I actually replace my drivers side mirror. I is a mechanical mirror with the turn signal on it. There is a small triangular door panel piece near the mirror. Remove it and remove the 2 or 3 bolts holding the mirror. Remove inside door panel. Unplug/replug electrical connection. The whole process was quite easy (believe it or not)!
I just replaced the passenger side mirror on my '01 Tahoe. I purchased an aftermarket replacement from a local salvage yard and it was an exact match to the OEM I was replacing. The change is very easy. First, put the window down so you can hold onto the mirrors as you're working with them. Remove the small trim panel and insulating material on the inside of the passenger door behind the mirror. It's attached with three small clips that will pop loose with some gentle prying (I was able to remove mine with my fingers). You should now seethe three nuts thatsecure the mirror. If yours is a power mirror there will also be a wiring harness. Unplug the wiring harness then remove all three nuts being careful not to let them fall down into the door panel. The old mirror should now come off. Line up your new mirror with the bolt holes and work in reverse. Good Luck!
You will need to remove the inside door panel of your 1999 GMC Jimmy. Remove the power mirror wiring harness. Remove the power mirror retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new power mirror.
Take the inside door panel off or loose enough to get to the 3 10 millimeter nuts on the mirror, take the nuts off and unplug the wiring to the mirror where it plugs in on the door, just reverse process to reinstall.
Get a flathead screw driver, insert it in between the panel that holds the switch and the door panel. Twist slightly, this should loosen up the panel. Now pull it out. Flip the panel over, insert screw driver into the switch plug and drive it out while pulling it out with your other hand. Now push the clips in that hold the switch to the panel. There you go.
Begin by removing the inside door panel. Remove the drivers side mirror wiring harness. Remove the mirror retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new mirror.

why would you do that?
I don't know about the 2003, but I recently bought a 2006. When the power mirror adjustment button is selected to make the driver's side mirror active - that is, to adjust that mirror - the passenger's side mirror will rotate down when you shift into reverse. If the adjustment button is selected to the passenger's side, the mirror will remain stationary when you shift into reverse.
you go to a Mechanic
