The freeze plug on a 1998 Ford Taurus is located on the front of the engine block. It prevents the engine from cracking should the coolant freeze.
Replace freeze plug in a 1998 ford windstar ?
How do I replace the block heater in my 1998 F150 4.6L?
I had a 94 & 96 taurus and you had to take the ash tray out to get to it.
The Malibu engine has several freeze plugs. They are on both sides of the block and designed to pop to keep the block from freezing.
There should be a drain plug on each side of the block by the freeze plugs.
There are 2 on each side of the block 2 on the front of the block an multiple on the back.
They are on the sides of the engine block.
I cannot direct you how - however, I can say I had my freeze out plug go (and there are four) on my 1998 Ford Taurus. They are easy to replace as my mechanic said; however, in my car - due to the location - behind engine - the trans had to be removed. I got 3 quotes ranging from $750 - $1300. Might as well service the trans at that point as well and replace the other plugs.
you take the old one out and replace it with the new one... hope this helps
No, it is possible to replace them in vehicle.
If you are sure that it did not freeze and crack the block, Then the intake manifold gasket is leaking. That is a common problem with the vortec Chevy engines. You need to replace the gasket with a factory Chevy gasket from the dealer.
