The fuel level float gauge is also mounted on this tube assembly. You have to siphon the tank empty (due to the weight of the fuel) and then take the tank off the car to replace the pump. Most cars do not have access panels in the trunk to get to the top of the tank. Be sure to get a new seen (screen) for the pump as most of them tear upon attempting to transfer them over to the new pump and they are almost always sold separately at parts stores.
