*Note* Ensure you DO NOT touch the bulb! ...The new one, that is.
Raise the hood, turn the L shaped pins away from anything above them and then pull them up away from the car. You should be able to wiggle the light housing out after that. Spin and remove the cap. Turn and remove the Light connector (has wires coming from it). Then turn and remove the locking ring (around bulb). Remove the burned out bulb. Replace the bulb, and reverse these instructions.
Open the hood, twist/unscrew the grey colored lamp holder and replace the bulb.

the glass cover on the headlight is not servicable, they are glued during assembly. you have to replace the entire headlight globe or headlight assembly.

You can replace a headlight on your own. It doesn’t have to be expensive at all. You will need to purchase a new lamp. The cars manual should explain how exactly to replace the headlight but you can always Google for instructions.
To replace the headlight assembly on on 03 Jetta, the grill and front bumper have to be removed before you can get to the screws below the lamp.
Open hood........two vertical metal fastener strips pull upward to release entire lamp assembly so you can change bulb. Change, and replace lamp assembly by inserting the two metal fasteners back.
1. Remove the battery and battery holder to gain access to the lamp. 2. Remove the electrical plug from the lamp. 3. Remove three Phillips screws that hold in the lamp. 4. Install replacement bulb. 5. Replace screws. 6. Reconnect electrical plug. 7. Replace battery holder and battery.
you take out the broken bulb and put in the good one YES BUT HOW DO YOU REPLACE IT???
Open the hood. Above the headlights on each side you will find two L-shaped rods, held in place by plastic clips. Rotate the rods to release them from the clips. Lift them up and out of their holes. Now you should be able to remove the headlight assembly from out the front of the truck. Turn the lamp holder to remove it. Remove old lamp and replace. Goes back together just as easy. DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW LAMP WITH YOUR SKIN. Use a clean cloth to handle the new lamp.
