For most cars, the dashboard has to be removed. The heater core is usually behind the glovebox. I replaced a core on an '83 t-bird about 10 years ago, so I don't remember the exact details, but I do remember it was a long process. Just keep track of all the nuts and bolts and Christmas trees that attach everything together on the dashboard. If you have it done by a shop, it is quite expensive, since there is so much time in getting the dash in and out. Ohterwise, it is not too difficult, but certainly not a beginner job. Expect 4 hours or more to do it yourself. The same general question was asked on NPR's CarTalk with Click and Clack the Tappet brothers, so you might try going to cartalk.com
Replace the heater core. It is leaking.

How do you replace a heater core in a 1998 ford expedition?"
yes, you even have to remove some a/c components wich requires draining you freon unfortunately
My heater core went out in my 95 Thunderbird about 3 months ago. Unless you know a ton about cars, you're gonna have to take it to a mechanic. It will be anywhere from $400-$800 to get it put in. Sucks since it's a 20 dollar part. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
at the back of the car
