if i don't have the key to open the trunk or the push button does not work from the inside of the car to open the trunk of a 1999 mercury cougar, could i be able to bypass the button or switch to open it?

There is a small button on the shifter knob just below the large button that you press to change shifter positons.

It is on the passenger side faceing the drivers side. Kind of hidden in a compartment. Slide the cover open next to the orange button. Press the button to eject.
