It does not have a cable. It is controlled by the speed sensor.
The vehicle speed sensor ( VSS ) provides information to the ( PCM ) Power train controll module to indicate vehicle speed. Check VSS.

There are several things you can do to repair your speedometer. You can replace the speedometer cable. You can replace the speed sensor in the transmission.

unscrew it from the speedometer head under the dash and unscrew it from the tranny and pull the old one out and install the new cable.
If the speedometer is not working it probably needs a new speedometer cable. If the speedometer is actually broken either take it to as speedometer repair shop or replace it.
