i recommend if you repl.the timing belt to repl. the idler & tension pully including the thermostat housing & bleeder hose, plus the front & rear cam seals.
in case of the thermostat housing, if there is a bleeder hose coming from the Thermostat housing to the expansion tank by removing this hose the plastic nipple
on the housing will brake & the housing need replaced.
to the question of special tools the answer is yes.
you need camshaft locking tools to hold the camshafts in place to remove the sprocket
& cvvt unit.
don't try it whit out this tools.
Need alternator belt routing on XC70 2003 Volvo
96000 miles
You MUST replace the cam belt every 50,000 miles on this Volvo. Warning: This is an interference engine.
When you replace the timing belt (every 70,000K).
I recall it cost meabout $750 on a 2001 V70
Dealership told me every 90,000 miles
Volvo recommended interval is 105,000 miles. You also replace the tensioner and the idler pulley at this time. 96000 miles You might also consider replacing the water pump at this time, it's driven by the timing belt and requires very little more labor to replace while you have the timing belt off.
75000 miles based on what I hear and see. These engines wont tolerate a broken timing belt. Change it now
how do adjust timing belt on a volvo 240 DL ?
I'd leave that to the pros, unless you are one. If you screw up, you can destroy the engine.
take it to the dealer and pay them. its too hard for the average joe to do at home.
Today it cost me $700. I am online comparing prices to what I paid.
