That would be a tough one to answer in this format. I recommend you get a good shop manual and review the tools and time that the job will require. This MUST be done correctly, or the engine may damage itself as soon as you start it up. The timing chain links the crankshaft to the cams, and if they are not synchronized properly, the valves may contact the pistons when they are not supposed to. See the links for help

If your talking about an ls1 then no it does not unless it is a high performance timing chain then it could be double
If it is noisy, leaking or not pumping sufficient coolant to cool the engine, replace it.
