Filter is internal and does not need service. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the trans. case for fluid drain. Refill thru dipstick tube.
It is actually inside the transmission itself. You get to it be removing the transmission pan.
im wandering where the transmission filter is on my 1996 mystique with a 4 cylinder.the filter has to go inside somewhere but not sure.if this is free it would be a huge help.perry
There is no Transmission filter on this car, it is a self cleaning Transmission, the small dirt goes into a drum and spins so it never gets into the Transmission, it can be cleaned by a Transmission man, Lonney Wade.
The oil filter on a 1998 Mercury Mystique is changed by lifting the vehicle up on ramps, placing a drain pan under the filter, and unscrewing it. A new filter is then put in place and torqued down.
1995 Mystique automatic 4 cylinder probably has a Ford CD4E transmission with an internal filter that cannot be changed without a major disassembly of the trans. which makes it impractical if not impossible for a home mechanic or fast lube shop to do. Either get your transmission rebuilt or replaced while you have it out and save yourself some grief.

The easy way is to go to a marine supply house and purchase an engine oil suction pump. The hard way is to drop the transmission oil pan. If you do this you can change the minimal filter that is present. This is not recommended unless you have a lift and the proper tools including a transmission drain pan.
The filter is actaully located inside of the transmission itself.....you would have to remove the transmission and tear it apart to get to the filter
Inside the transmission. Pan must be removed to access the filter.
the transmission has to be spit apart in order to change the trans filter.
right behind the air filter toward the engine
You need to remove the transmission pan to get to the transmission filter. You'll need to get a transmission filter kit which includes a pan gasket and filter.
take it to a transmission specialist to replace the filter the oil pan on transmission must be removed, this generally means raising transmission off the mounts
remove the transmission pan. replace filter. this will be messy
The transmission filter is screwed to the bottom of the transmission. You need to drain the fluid and remove the pan to access and/or replace the filter.
The filter is on the top of the transmission under the hood and unscrew just like an oil filter
under the rear passenger side of the car, pretty easy to change.
Hi, I work for Fram. Your Mystique oil filter is a TG8316 if it is a four cylinder engine, it will be a XG2 if it is a six cylinder engine. If you have further questions, i can be reached at email@example.com
The transmission filter will be located inside the transmission. Their is no need to replace it if you flush it. A flush will clean everything and rinse the filter
I had my fluids changed in my transmission, and they told me the filter was internal....and they did not replace it!
According to a web based filter company, they noted that the transmission has to be dismantled to replace the filter.
Fill the transmission filter with transmission fluid before you put the new transmission filter on. You probably will not need to add any transmission fluid.
the location of the transmission filter is inside the transmission and in order to replace the filter you need to drop the transmission and open it. the filter is not in the transmission pan like most older cars and can not be changed by some one that dosent know a little about how to rebuilt a transmission.it might be better to get the transmission flushed.
