If you are installing a new one I would unplug the wire harness to the bad sensor and then cut the wires off at the sensor. This allows you to slip a 7/8" box wrench over the sensor to break it loose and remove it. Install the new one and tighten it with a 7/8" open end wrench and plug the harness back in. Tighten it as you would a spark plug.
It sure can.
if the crank sensor is bad it does not tell the computer that the crank is turning it will not fire up the engine.
Its together with the mass airflow sensor(maf). On the top of the air intake tube.
No, the 1992 Chevy 350 (5.7L) V8 is not a Vortec engine.
Drivers side of engine, between the #3 and #5 spark plug.
It is on the lower right hand side of the throttle body. There are 2 sensor on that side , it is the lower one.
how much torque for a Chevy Z71 350 vortec engine valve cover
That engine has 2 of them and there underneith the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake to get to them.
Where is the oil sending unit located on the 2001 Chevy 43. vortec engine?

It is the bottom sensor on the right side of the throttle plate housing. That is the part that all the duct work comes from the air filter box and hooks to the engine is.
No it will not. The 96 vortec has a crankshaft sensor and alot of other sensors on the engine that is required so the transmission will work that will not interchange with the 92 engine. Even the fuel pump would have to be changed. You must put a VORTEC engine back in the 96 so everything will work correctly.
