I have a 2000 Lincoln Navigator 4wd. I love my truck and I don't want to get rid of it, but it has some problems with the suspension and steering. I have been told by a mechanic that it probably needs a new idler arm and possibly replace the CV axel. I don't mind doing the work myself if I can but I want to be sure this is what needs to be done. What steps should I use to diagnose the problem and what signs should I look for? As for what I have seen, it has a bit of a wiggle side to side on straight smooth road and most recently I noticed it has something grabbing as it rotates (can't tell what is rotating but it increases and decreases with the speed of the truck and can hear a muffled thumping noise with each rotation) my father says it sounds like a barring is going out. Any advice or ideas on what it may be?

That would be best left to a repair shop. You will need a pressure bleeder.
