First remove the steering wheel and the 2 column covers.
Locate the 3 multi-function switch connectors behind the instrument panel and disconnect them.
Remove the screw that fastens the switch to the steering column.
Carefully pry up the tab that holds the switch harness retainer to the bracket on either side. Pull the retainers off the brackets.
Take the multifunction switch off the steering column.
Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
Remove the switch screws and take the switch off.
Installation is the reverse of removal steps.

On my 1995 Escort, there are TWO bolts on either side below the fuse that first need to be removed. Pulling up on the fuse without first removing these two bolts will result in a damaged fuse. I imagine the 1994 is the same as the 1995.
You have to have the hub pressed out of the knuckle to replace the wheel studs.

You can do anything you want with money but it would be much cheaper to just buy another escort that is a standard shift.
Disconnect the battery. Remove the ignition coils. Remove the ignition control module that was under the coils, and replace it.
