cant open the case to get to the dead batteries. How do I open the case
Just simply remove mounting bolt and cables and remove old battery under hood. There may also be a battery under the passenger side mounted to the frame. You will need to remove the bolts holding battery case to frame. There are cables to prevent battery case and battery from falling. Once dropped done, remove both cables and mounting bolt for battery. Remove old battery and replace with new.
That model was produced from 1985-2001.
No, unless they are over 5 years old. In that case I would replace them at the same time. Otherwise just replace the defective battery.
It does not tip up. Cab slides forward. Procedure in op manuel
There are small indents on either side of the case where you can slide a head of small screw driver to pry the case apart. The battery can be easier replaced once the case is opened. Just snap the case back together when done.
1. Remove the physical key from the fob 2. Use a coin in the slight coin shaped indentation, to twist and open the case 3. Replace the battery, with a new CR2032 battery, noting the orientation of the battery. 4. Align the case halves together, taking care not to lose or dislodge the 'Panic' button pushbutton cover piece (it is loose, not attached to the rest of the case). 5. Snap the case back together like the original. 6. Task completed - test.
