u do not adjust belt tensioner if belt is loose, u need to replace belt as tensioner works automatically
the tensionjer is a spring tensioner so if it is to low and not holding tension on the belt you need a new tensioner
You have to unscrew the tensioner bolt and remove the serpentine belt first, then change the pulley and replace the belt. You have to unscrew the tensioner bolt and remove the serpentine belt first, then change the pulley and replace the belt.
you don't. This car has an automatic belt tensioner. The spring inside this part is probably worn out. You have to replace the tensioner. It is also possible that the belt that is now on the engine has stretched beyond the point that the tensioner can compensate for; the belt may feel tight, but not be tight enough. In that case, of course, replace the belt. The Haynes manual has good instructions on how to do that, and the belt is not particularly expensive. ---------------------------------------- http://youtube.com/watch?v=SB_NEsq88v0
The serpentine belt is held by tention with a automatic belt tensioner. If the serpentine belt is loose, you will most likely have to replace the entire belt tensioner assembly. the assembly comes with a new pully. Please visit my bio for a link to my Saturn help site for pictures of the assembly.
The belt is tightened automatically by the belt tensioner. If the belt is too loose, it's time to replace it.
Honda Man'sThere is no manual way to tighten the belt. The serpentine belt tensioner is spring loaded and requires no adjustment. If the belt is too loose replacing the belt tensioner will be required. it should tighten automaticly, you may need to replace the tensioner
I had the tensioner and belt replaced on my 93 saturn. Before hiring someone I looked into it online. My advice is that unless you have the tools and basic skills for mechanics (the basics yes, the tools no) I would suggest you take it to a mechanic and since you are doing that you might aswell have the serpinine belt replaced and tightened too. Good luck
It uses a spring loaded belt tensioner. The tensioner is autmatically set. IF there is not enough tension, then replace the tensioner. The belt may be stretched and need replacment however.
Tensioner should be removable and replaceable by single mounting bolt are you referring to the belt tensioner on engine?if so. remove tensioner, buy a new one, and replace. this is not a big job. you will also need to replace belt at same time
Note:The drivebelt routing decal on the radiator shroud to help during drivebelt install * To replace the belt rotate the tensioner pulley clockwise to release belt tension * Remove the belt from the auxiliary components and slowly release the tensioner * Route the new belt over the various pulleys again rotating the tensioner to allow the belt to be installed then release the belt tensioner
You don't. The belt tension is automatically adjusted via a spring loaded tensioner. If the serpentine belt is noisy or worn out prematurely. replace the tensioner. The belt should be inspected for cracks and other signs of wear. Replace worn out belt(s) before they break leaving you stranded.
