I just changed one last month on my 2006 TB. Open back hatch, there are screws holding taillight assembly in. Take those out. Assembly is snap in, so you need to unsnap. Once inside, two more screws hold bulb housing. Remove those and you should be able to replace bulb. Then reassemble. Owners manual should have these step by step inside, under bulb replacement.
A few weekends ago I had to replace the fan clutch on my '06 Trailblazer EXT LS. In addition to getting the P0495 code from the check engine light, when I rev'd it up it sounded like a jet engine. Instructions: http://www.diystew.com/2006-trailblazer/
You have to remove the interior trim of the lift gate.

I have a 2006 lincoln ls sport in which the 3rd brake light cover isn't connected properly. When I drive I can see out of my mirror that it's moving. Is there a way to keep it from moving?
it could be the idler puller rubbing on the bearings. we had to replace it on our 2006 Chevy trailblazer ext.
# Remove the trunklid latch trim cover # Remove the electrical connector # Push in on the tabs and push light out of trunk
2 nuts in the trunk, unscrew those, then the light housing will pop off pry the plastic off and replace bulb.
You need to replace the brake pad sensors (there's only 2 - one for the front and one for the rear) and the light will reset itself.
It doesn't.... By the e-brake under the dash, there is a bundle of wires (4) that are blunt cut and taped together. These get spliced to the brake controller wires by function, not by color.
