The heater-A/C control [also called climate control] is back lighted by one or two small lamps [bulbs] mounted in a lamp-holder(s) inserted into the rear of the control assembly.
Normally, the holders insert into a hole, and are locked in place by turning 1/4 turn to the right [clockwise], and removed by turning 1/4 turn counterclockwise.
Depending on the amount of room behind the dash, and around the heater-A/C control assembly, you may be able to remove the holder [s] by reaching up behind the dash.
If there is not room for you to work, then you will have to remove the assembly from the dash panel to access the lamp-holder(s).
To change the light bulb for the heater control on the 2006 Tahoe, you will either need to replace the entire climate control panel or remove and re-solder the bulbs. You can remove the bulbs by first removing the dashboard bezel and then the dash itself. Access the bulbs and pull them out of the control panel. Solder new bulbs into the panel.?æ
How to change the bulbs in the climate control for a 1999 Chevy trailblazer
If you have the automatic climate control system, I do not think there are actual "bulbs" in the display as it is all electronic. In my 1988 LeSabre I had to replace the entire control unit which I picked up at a salvage yard. Just a thought.
Remove the cover around the controls and you will see the bulbs inside the climate control unit. It just pulls off.
They are soldered on. If you want to replace you need to remove the HVAC control unit, open it and using the soldering iron remove the old bulbs and solder in the new ones. Bulbs of similar size/voltage are available from Radio Shack
When changing the lights on a 1995 Acura Integra remove the dash on the center console and pull it off. Remove all the accessories and reach the old bulbs. Replace the bulbs.
You don't replace the lights in the dash board climate control. It is a singular control module. Once the lights in it burn out, that's it. You either replace it for a few hundred bucks or just live with it. A quick and cost effective way to get light in that area is to buy a little 12 volt light that you plug into the cigarette lighter with a flexible neck.
I was told that the bulbs are not replaceable. You have to replace the entire pad.
You will need what is called"radio keys" these can be purchased at the dealer. They are used to slide in the ac control unit. Once out get soem needle nose pliers and remove the bulb. good luck!!
You're replacing the bulbs to lower your electricity bill? There's no way to replace the heat loss. If you buy an electric heater your monthly bill will be higher. You have to decide whether you can adapt to the heat loss by wearing a sweater indoors. If not, you might decide not to switch bulbs.
The removal of the climate control system in your dash varies depending on whether or not you have a manual climate control system or an automatic one. Youtube actually has a couple really good videos on how to remove these: http://youtube.com/watch?v=g54s3Ad2z5Q&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=XlPm_Qhbh0s&feature=related Basically, for the manual one, you need to remove the knobs, and then remove the screws that are on the two outer knobs. Then pull out the faceplate and disconnect. The bulbs are on the backside. For the automatic one, you need to remove the radio, and then pull out the system (should just pop out). Then either disconnect it or pull it out enough to reach the bulbs. The bulbs are different for each (the automatic ones are much longer), but are removed in the same fashion--just use a thin flathead to turn and remove. Replace, and reverse instructions to reinstall.
You can replace the balls in the heater control panel on an XS ARA Picasso by removing the front cover of the heater control panel. The panel lights will then be visible.
