This answer is for the manual control units. The panel which encloses the three dial knobs (on speed controls, the mode and the ac/heat) can be popped out by gently pully at it from the bottom. Just over the indash pocket at the bottome of it. With that off, you need to disconnect the rear defrots cables at the back. With that done, unscrew the one screw which hold the panel which encloses the radio/cd and the heater control knob. Gently pry it upwards and set aside. Now the heat/ac unit is held down by 4 screws, remove them and set it aside. There are 4 little clamps you need to depress to loosen the unit from where it was screwed on. After you free the unit, you need to turn the cold control to mid mark. This is so you can twist the whole climate ac control unit inwards so that the cable connected to the unit can slip out of the hole. Now be careful, the plastic which connects the cable to the unit is weied to say the least, it might be fragile and you will need to push the entire cable out. With that done, you my friend have just disconnected the climate control unit from your dash. I did this once, and had to spend $125 to replace the broken gear to turn hot.cold/ The second time, i broke the plast which holds the cable in. Nissan Courtesy Party website sells the whole unit which u can order online. Aneil.M
