The panel surrounding the cup holder pulls out. No screws hold it in place, only clips that release their hold when you pull. Pull gently and evenly on the surround piece that houses the hazard button and other controls. The whole thing will pop out. The stereo is not connected to this part on our Sportage but it was after market when we got it so I'm not sure about fully stock (shouldn't make a difference). It pops off rather easily once you get it to release. Gently let lay it forward with the control wires remaining intact to this piece. This will expose the two cup holder screws (phillips head) that hold it in place. Take them out and pull out the cup holder. Good luck!
