When I changed my door speakers I simply removed the 3 screws on the bottom of the panel, one up near the side view mirror, and when you pull the door handle open there is a T- screw in there. After that you simply lift straight up. The panel should separate from the door and give you enough room to replace the speaker. Note I have no power windows or door locks so I didn't have to worry about those wires, and I left the bar that connects to the door handle on as well. I had plenty of room. Hope this helps
On a 1997 Dodge Dakota, the factory amplifier is located in the passenger side kick panel, directly in front of the door. The amplifier should be hooked directly into the speakers.
