no, but you might have to pull your transmission depending on which freeze it is.
There is 2 freeze plugs between the rear of the engine and the transmission. The freeze plugs are in the back of the engine block. Do not bother the big plug that is in the center of the block, That is the cam plug NOT A FREEZE PLUG. YOu will either have to pull the transmission are the engine to replace those 2 plugs.
Get under the vehicle and look to see if you can see the leaking freeze plug. If you can't then it may be between the motor and transmission. If so, you will have to remove the transmission to replace it.
there are two freeze plug between the engine and tran. have to separate the trans from the engine. I just replace mine took me a few hours. . did not have to take the engine or trans out... just had to loosen the trans mount and took out the axles and starter..need two jack...good luck
It is your choice. You can either remove the transmission and leave the engine alone. or pull the engine and leave the transmission alone. If your SMART you will replace all the freeze plugs in the engine.
The freeze plug on a 1998 Ford Taurus is located on the front of the engine block. It prevents the engine from cracking should the coolant freeze.
There are freeze plugs in the side of the block, the heads and in the back of the block between the motor and transmission. If it is one of the ones on the back of the block, either the engine or transmission has to be removed to get to them.
Yes there are 2
Yes
The freeze plugs are on the engine, not the transmission.
It depends on where the freeze plug is. Some Are on the back of the motor requiring the transmission to be removed. Once you can see it you can take it out with a screwdriver and it is easier to replace with a rubber one rather than a metal one.
