The fuel filter is located on the driver side underside. It easier to use needle nose pliers. Press the clips together and pull the fuel line off. You have to take off the bracket holding the fuel filter and then push out the old one. Replace the clip and re-install. I just replaced one on 8/5/06

How do you replace fuel filter 0n 05 free star?
The fuel filter is located just inside the driver's side frame rail just back of the front door. The '06 has it mounted between the fuel tank and the bottom of the car. There are two plastic rivets holding a plastic bracket (which covers the filter) in place which are removed from the top of the bracket. The rivets are difficult to remove and have a specific orientation. The fuel tank covers most of the filter so it must be lowered to access the two quick connect fittings on the back of the filter. My dealer quoted $70 to change the filter.
