Weekend project.
Pull the intake manifold off and the throat assy. Pull the radiator cover and all the front pieces so you have access to the timing belt. Loosen this and remove the belt. The internal areas are now open to the heads. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from both sides and see if you can get the bolts off from the head. This allows the manifold to lower just enough to get the head off. Now remove all the extra things tied to the head, like spark plug wires and such. Unbolt the head and remove it from the vehicle. If you couldn't remove the bolts from the exhaust then remove the exhaust manifold from the exhaust pipe. Now lift the whole thing out. At some point you should be able to remove the head. Clean and replace the gasket and then put it all back together. Piece of cake huh?
Get yourself a manual and it will lead you step by step. I can do mine in a weekend but I have doen lots of repairs on it so I don't even think about it anymore. Except to ensure I am putting it together correctly.
