I have such a Snapper straight shaft weed trimmer, purchased at Wal Mart and the original head has part number M-1541, but I have found this part anywhere on the web yet. Lowe's has a universal replacment head (box says fits 98% of weed trimmers) for around $20 in June 2009. Good luck.

Then pop out the cartridge and rewind the string (you don't have to do a perfect job of it) and replace the cartridge as if it is new. Then plug in the trimmer and try again. Hopefully, it is just a matter of something unusual happening just once.
