No you must remove the dashboard. I just had it done on a 1996 Bravada and it cost me $450.00.

It is behind the dash assembly, inside the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) box. Replacing the heater core is a difficult job and more so if the vehicle has AC. If you intend on DIY, purchase a shop manual for that vehicle, you will need it.
Remove the upper intake.
Remove the upper intake and there it is.
