If that regulator has failed you can either rebuild the alternator (don't even try unless you're experienced), or you can simply replace the alternator. To put a window back on track in a 1996 Geo Metro, the door panel will have to be removed. Use a screwdriver to pry up the clips around the door panel. Then locate the window cable and rewind it. If the window is operated by a power switch, be careful not to pinch the fingers when rewinding the cable.
