By taking out the battery box and the intake tunnnel on the engine. Then it is on top of the transmission with the speedometer cable running into it. It is clamped in by 1 bolt. Once that is taken off you "carefully" pry it out. They are harder than the very dickens to get out. If not careful the speedometer drive gear will fall down into the tranny blocking the shift rods. Then it wil cost you $1500 to get it pulled and taken apart to get the drive gear out. This is definitely one repair you want to farm out to someone else.
