take the old one off, put a new one on. one week later, replace again, and kick yourself in the private parts for buying a cheap knockoff.
You gotta get under the car and do it from the back of the engine.
Remove the starter cables. Remove the starter retaining bolts. The starter will come off. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
I have a 90' ZR1 and the starter is under the plenum a costly job about $700 plus parts. They have to remove the top of the engine to get to it.
Unfortunately the starter ois located in the valley between the cylinder banks you have to remove the intake to replace it.(very labor intensive procedure) intake gaskets are about$90 and the starter from Autozone is about $250. you better know what you are doing befor you tear into this engine....
I purchased a used 90 sportsman, which had the kick start arm Welded to the shaft coming out of engine, I just went to replace starter as it was bad and found the broken off piece laying near starter, apparently previous owner just spot welded the actual kick arm to the input shaft that goes to engine. It worked that way for a season until now I am replacing the starter. Pain in the butt! bottom bolt is an Allen that you have to used a special Allen that has the round end because of the angle. Good luck
Around $110 for new, $90 for remanufactured,
The cost of the starter would be about $90. The labor would depend on the company that you use to put in the part.
if starter is turning but not cranking engine, u need to replace starter or starter solenoid and yes i have had a starter go out just like that and when mine went out i was 90 miles from a new one had to get a buddy bring one out
Disconnect battery, starter is located somewhere by where engine meets transmission. Remove all electric connections then remove bolts securing starter. Install new starter, attach electric connections, connect battery and your done.
you probably have a bind the burning smell is probably the wire going to your starter you need to find out what it is, try tightening the starter then replace if need be
no you cant in 92 they went from a six to 7 bolt main.
Transmission seals? front yes, rear no. Engine seals, yes.
