He's right..if you cant do it yourself it's going to be a challenge, a mess and you'll probubly end up with more problems. If your up for it thought it's not too difficult, I just had to change mine (yet another fix for my old alero) and it's not rocket science. First you remove the negetive battery cable. Then remove the wires from the alternator as well as the bolts that hold it in and finally the old alternator (which i suggest you recycle :) ..) The schematic for the serpentine belt should be on the fan shroud....IF NOT DRAW ONE BEFORE REMOVING IT! Do not go by memory. If you didn't understand more then a couple of those words just bring it to the mechanic and pay the extra.Good luck.
It is integrated into the alternator, if it is bad you will need to replace the alternator.
