Camshaft Position Sensor / syncronizer
Replace the camshaft sensor
On a 1999 Ford Explorer : It depends on which engine you have : The 4.0 liter Single Over Head Cam , V6 engine has ( 1 camshaft on top of each cylinder head , so there are 2 cams ) The 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine ( which is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine has ( 1 camshaft ) The 5.0 liter , V8 engine has ( 1 camshaft )
according to my Haynes repair manual the camshaft position sensor for the 4.0 L OHV engine is located at the rear of the engine block, on the top of the engine block
the camshaft position sensor is on the left side of the engine , at back on the upper side . you have to demont the conector , than unscrew and replace it
In a 1996 Ford Explorer , 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine : From what I have read the camshaft position sensor is located on the top of the engine , near the centerline , at the rear of the engine near the firewall . Apparently you can't see it until the upper intake manifold is removed
no The Chevy Celebrity 4 cylinder engine doesn't use a timing belt, it uses a timing gear. To replace the gear it is necessary to remove the camshaft from the engine as it is a press job. To remove the camshaft it is necessary to remove the engine from the car.
yes
It is located on the backside of the engine. Go to youtube and type in how to replace camshaft sensor on 2005 Nissan altima and it will show where it is and how to replace it, that is how I did my one.
Need to know the year and engine size.
The camshaft for your 4.0 L - over head valve engine ( OHV ) is inside the engine block , below the intake manifold , going from front to rear in the center of the " V " ( V6 engine ) I hope that makes sense !
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe the camshaft position sensor on a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT , with the 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine is ( on the drivers side valve cover , near the engine oil fill cap )
