Had to replace mine not too long ago. You will need a very small screw driver to pry the button loose. Once out you are home free! You can find a diagram on how to do this on Smokinvette.com. Good luck!
My '84 has two; one inside the console storage compartment and one on the back edge of the driver's door; door must be open to see it.

Gas door is on the deck lid.
REPLACE PASSANGER DOOR LOCK MODULE. SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT NEED BOTH PASSANGER AND DRIVER DOOR LOCK MODULES. THEY ARE ABOUT $250 EACH. YEAH I DID IT IN MINE.

I have a 1984 Corvette and the alarm went off. Is there a switch, key or button that I can turn the alarm off? Thank you! The alarm is reset by inserting the door key into the drivers door and turning the key.
The spring holding the door button in place has fallen out. Remove the door handle and replace.
Fuel door release button/switch.
Remove all the screws, take the arm rest off, and lift.
No, the door release button will not wear out quickly. The button is far more convenient compared to traditional pull handle model.
On my '95 Bonneville the trunk release button is on the driver's door below the door handle. Hope this helps.
Try putting the key in the drivers door and locking it manually after you close the door. If you have a custom alarm then you have to play with the alarm button.
