I assume you have an automatic transmssion. The pushbutton & T- handle are replaced as an assembly. On the T-handle, on the back side, you will see a narrow slot. Use a very small slot type screwdriver to wedge the STAPLE out of that slot. (The staple is of a thick spring steel, so don't worry about breaking it.) Holding the T-handle tightly, yang straight up! That's it.
To install, it is important you press the pushbutton IN, before pushing the replacement T-Handle down. To install the STAPLE, use a pair of pliers to squeeze the pins together slightly to get it started into the plastic handle.
I have no earthly idea.
Start with the trim around the radio and work your way down. Each piece overlaps the last one. There are screws on each side that may or may not have trim plugs over them. There are two screws holding the shifter knob on.
My mechanic took about an hour.
about $175.00 tops. (depends where you go)
i changed a transmission over from an 88 aerostar to a 93 aerostar, the only problem i had was with the shifter . the shift cable on the 88 was a floor shift and the 93 was on the steering coloumn. all aerostars have a plate on the floor where a floor shift can be installed. i removed this plate and installed the floor shifter from the 88 into the 93 problem solved ....hope this helps
It is located on top and inside the fuel tank. You must drop the tank to replace it.
same happend to my 91. u gota take off the shifter nob and take off the plastic stuff and then there should be some rubber things u need to replace shouldn't cost more then 10 bucks or so. or u can rig it and drill threw the 2 mettal peices and stick a blot in there

I believe there is a pin on the back of the shifter knob.I don't remember which way it comes out, when you look at it you will figure it out, but when it does, the knob will come off.
