The simplest and most direct answer is to 1) remove old one, and 2) install new one. Oxygen sensor is on the exhaust at the front of the front catalytic converter. It is on the top side so it is not easy to access from under the hood or under the car, but you will likely end up removing it from the underside. Most auto parts stores have a set of sockets that they will lend. The job isn't hard, but it is frustrating since you can see the thing from under the hood and you can easily touch it from under the car, but it is darned difficult to get the tools in there and then get enough leverahe and swing to remove it. Good luck! --Ken

Yes.
The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is on the transmission of all vehicles.
Unplug then unscrew the old one. Screw the new one in and plug it into the wiring harness. Special sockets that will help you to remove the oxy sensor are available for loan at many auto parts stores.
Fuel level sensor is in the tank with the fuel.
If somebody knocks on the front door of the Subaru, the KNOCK sensor, sets off the KNOCK Alarm....LOL
The function of the oxygen sensor in a Subaru or any other car is to measure the amount of oxygen that is mixed with exhaust gases.
