You don't actually need to remove the headlamp to replace the bulb. On my car, I unplug the wire from the bulb at the back of the headlamp, remove the large rubber piece around the back of the bulb, unclip the clips that hold the bulb in place, remove and replace. Cheers! Mark I just changed one of my 2000 Forester headlamp bulbs Saturday. Here's what I learned: The electrical connector on the back of the housing pulls off. Unfortunately after 8 years of use it doesn't want to come off. I used a screwdriver to gently pry it off, but still managed to dislodge the terminals from the old bulb. This is not a problem since you're replacing the bulb, just be aware that you may need some persistence. This is a 9003 bulb and I did as recommended by the fellow at the auto parts store and put a little dielectric grease on the terminals before installation. Good luck! Ken
