just had mine replaced last month . its a 40 dollar part and a bad location to put it in .the pigtail wiring on the back is difficult to get in after taking apart the dash and you have to have a special tool to do it . my advice for 60 dollars it took the mechanic about 30 mins to get it in . my advice is to take it some where and have it fixed . also my dome light never worked after i turned the knob. The wire that's suppose to be dead goes to the dome light make sure you hook it up . James 86 Ford ltd crown vic
the circuit breaker is built into the headlight switch.
You've got a bad headlight switch and need to replace it, that's the switch you pull in the dash to turn the lights on. That's why the headlights only work on bright but not dim.

There isn't one. There is a self-reseting breaker built into the headlamp switch.

With the hood open, remove the plastic cover the exposes the inside of the headlight. There are 3 clips to remove from the inside, plus the wire harness. The headlight just comes out from the out side then. You might have to replace some of the clips, only found at Ford, and about 7 bucks ea.
It would be difficult to repair the switch. If you are positive the switch is bad, then just replace it. As this can be a very expensive part if purchased from the dealer, I suggest you visit your local salvage yard and purchase one there. Just make sure you get one out of a car that has not been under water, or one that has the windshield busted or missing.
Bring to a shop that does state safety inspections
Replace the ignition switch, or try the correct key.
