If you have directional lights, tail lights, and hi - mount brake light that works but no lower brake lights, replace the multi-function switch on the steering column. Order from MONSTER Auto Parts online for about $90.00. Buy from dealer 300-400.00. Parts house 200-300. No need to replace the 4 way flasher even though they do not work. They will when you replace the MultiFunction switch. Good luck!
Remove the wiring harness from the high mount brake light. Remove the back cover of the brake light assembly. Take hold of the brake light connector, push in and turn at the same time. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
The way that you change a high mount brake light on a 2007 Taurus is by first prying the light assembly from the housing. You then push rearward to remove it from the retaining clips. Next, life the light assembly from the shelf and disconnect the assembly wiring. Replace the light assembly and reverse directions to put the light housing back where it goes.
the brake light switch is located on the arm of the brake pedal, above the pad. you will see a plunger-type switch that extends and retracts with the compression of the brake pedal. to replace it, unbolt it from the bracket attached to the brake pedal, disconnect the electrical connector, replace new part (compare the adjustment of the new switch with the old & adjust if necessary), connect electrical plug, mount new switch to bracket & test.
There are actually 3 bulbs (GE #1141). On my De Ville there is a small compartment on the rear dash directly in front (from inside the car) the high mount brake light. Simply open the compartment and pull back the trim exposing the 3 bulbs, replace any or all nonworking bulbs.
