there is no fixing you have to replace the rack and pinion
Most likely,your CV axle(s) are bad. You will need to replace the axle(s).This happens as the vehicle gets more miles on it.

You have a bad front axle, I have a 2000 lesabre and I had the same problem with it . I took it to a local garage and had the axle's replaced and I have not had any more problems. Hope this helps Wayne Cave3 City, Ky
For the brakes on the calipers and behind backing plates for rear on top of axle.

Loosen the hub nut in the center of the wheel. Then raise the car and take off the wheel. Finish taking off the hub nut. Take of the brake caliper and rotor. Remove the stabilizer bar from the lower arm. Seperate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. You may have to use a puller to push the cv axle out of the hub. Then jently pry the other end out of the transmission. That is how you take the halfshaft(aka cv axle)off. I don't know if your going to rebuild the joints or change the whole axle, but I just changed the whole axle on my 87 LeSabre. It just seemed alot easier.
They are on the inside, next to the differental bearings. The entire axle has to be dissassembled to replace them.
