Hello,
Here is a simple walk-through on replacing the master cylinder on a '90 CRX:
Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the SRS system (if equipped.) At the top of the clutch pedal, remove the cotter pin and pull the pedal pin out of the yoke.
Remove the nuts and bolts holding the clutch master cylinder and remove the cylinder from the engine compartment.
Disconnect and plug the hydraulic lines from the master cylinder.
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
The brake booster on a 1990 Honda Civic is held in place with several mounting bolts and the brake master cylinder. Remove all the mounting bolts, vacuum lines and the master cylinder. Go underneath the dash and remove the plunger from the brake pedal. The booster will fall out. Replace the unit.
Yes, replace the brake booster and master cylinder.Yes, replace the brake booster and master cylinder.
the pedal will slowly depress with no loss of fluid
The master cylinder is held by 2 bolts. Before you mount the new cylinder bleed it on the bench. After installing it you may have to bleed all of the brakes. GoodluckJoeANSWERunscrew 2 fluid pipes, unscrew 2 bolt where it tied up remove cylinder, install new one put the reservoir, bleed properly
There is no fluid in the system or master cylinder/slave cylinder failure (hydraulic). Cable streched or broken (if not hydraulic).
replace the bushing where the clutch pedal attaches to the master cylinder arm.
There is a gasket between the master cylinder and the booster of a 1990 Acura Integra. It is shaped like the side of the master cylinder with two bolt holes.
Use a turkey baster to suck the brake fluid out of the master cylinder Replace with new fluid Bleed each wheel until new fluid runs out MAKE SURE MASTER CYLINDER DOES NOT EMPTY DURING PROCEDURE
you need to take off the master cylinder and the accumulator and replace it with a master cylinder from a non antilock vehicle like a thunderbird or cougar from about 1985 to 1988.
Well, I'm answering my own question. But I know for a fact that the master cylinder will fit on the 90. Also, I'm 80% sure the starter, alternator, etc. will fit.
How much does it cost parts and labor to replace a valve cover gasket on a 1990 Honda Accord 4door.
If it's leaking out the end of the master cylinder you'll need to replace it. Don't even bother trying to rebuild the clutch master cylinder, it just isn't worth the trouble. You can buy one from most auto parts retailers for about the same price as a rebuild kit, and often for less.
