How do you replace the oil pump on 1979 Oldsmobile Omega 3.8L?

The 3.8l GM V-6 is an old Buick pushrod V-8 with 2 cyliners lopped off. This means, like most V-8s of the time, the oil pump is in the oil pan, under the engine block. Getting it out of an Olds Omega will probably require pulling the engine to access the oil pan.
