You can use a pipe wrench, or a regular wrench I forget what size. Which one is it, there are 3 that I know of, some people have said 4, but I have checked and could never find the 4th one, one is before the cat. on the front drivers side, and the other 2 are after the cat. You have to unscrew them out of the exhaust, and there is a plug you have to unplug, and then just plug the new one in, and screw it back in place.........unhook the positive batery terminal to reset the computer, let it set unhooked for about 5 minutes.
Cut the wire, unscrew the old oxygen sensor then replace it with the new one and finally, connect the new wire, making certain that you follow the manufacturers wiring diagram. To find the oxygen sensor, look at the exhaust manifold, then follow it down to where the manifold feeds into the headpipe. The oxygen sensor is the part that screws into the exhaust and has a wire connected to it.
Locate the sensor on the exhaust system unplug it ,unscrew it and replace it in reverse. Pretty simple. Autozone will lend you a special socket needed to go around the wires if needed
The 1996 Ford Explorer overdrive sensor can be found on the right hand side of the transmission. The overdrive sensor will be near the front of the transmission.
bank one would be the passenger side
I don't know the cost of the sensor but it is just a mamtter of unplugging the old one, unscrewing it and installing the new one. GoodluckJoe
can you tell me were the map sensor
Yes
there is no need to reset the computer for an 02 sensor.
Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine in a Ford Explorer Sensor 2 is in the exhaust after the catalytic converter ( downstream )

P0146Oxygen Sensor Circuit No ActivityUsually followed by some location information such as bank one sensor 2.It is an indication that the rear most Oxygen sensor has stopped working, or there is an electrical problem with the wiring going to that sensor. The solution is to replace the indicated O2 sensor.
