I have a 93 Caprice and the cruise went out a few times. Check the third brake light in the back of the window. If it is out replace it and this might fix the problem. Also check the fuse as it controls the cruise and third brake light as well.
Yeah, quite easy remove window & replace with care...
To replace the car window on the driver side you will need to follow the following steps. 1. Disconnect the car battery if the window has automatic controls. 2. Remove the window trim and disconnect the window from manual or automatic controls. 3. Unbolt the regulator that holds the glass and remove the glass. 4. Replace the glass and reattach the regulator, controls and trim.

cannot get motor to line back up. when I do it jams
Window regulator controls the up and down motions of your car window. Both electric and manual windows have a window regulator. Not the easiest part to replace, but once you dissembled the door panel it should be fairly simple to replace.
Maybe a bad switch or motor Try reversing the wires on switch
The rear window on a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice is replaced by prying out the retaining seals and pulling the glass out using large suction cups. New seals are installed, a bead of silicone ran along the seal, and the replacement glass popped into place.
If you don't know how to do it, your best bet would be to simply goto a mechanic. You will spare yourself from a heavy duty work trying to fix the window, when you will most possibly mess everything up.
remove front windshield from a 1983 Chevrolet caprice
If the window is open you can bend a coat hanger (or other wire) to lift the lock knobs. Otherwise I would hide an extra key on the outside of the car.
