How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1987 Ford F-250?

Let engine cool. Drain some of your coolent into a bucket. The drain is down on the bottom Right side(passenger) of the radiator. To find your thermostst, follow the top radiater hose to the engine block. This should connect to the thermostst housing. You can remove hose if needed. There are 2 bolts holding the thermostst housing on. Take those out and remove cover. Make sure you scrape all of the old gasket material off before putting on a new one. Put in the new thermostat and gasket, put back on housing and connect any hoses. Fill radiator with coolant. Start and check for leaks. Just be careful when you tighten the housing back down, you can over tighten the bolts and crack the housing.
