I'm currently replacing my transmission pully in my yellow deck JOHN DEERe STX38. You can not get to it from under the seat. As far as I can see the only way is to drop the transaxle.
You should be able to remove the battery and the battery tray from under the seat and get right to the transmission pulley. Just remove the nut from the shaft and it should slip right off.
The John Deere 8345r has an ivt transmission.
The belt that runs from the variable speed pulley back to the transmission is part number is m44121. it is 67 3/8 long and 5/8 width.

John Deere 450H Dozer hydralic transmission how can drain
You must back out three bolts which hold plastic cover over left side spindle pulley first. After cover is removed (or at least two rear bolts are removed allowing cover to be pulled up ) work belt onto this pulley and reinstall bolts on cover. Then, you must loosen idler pulley next to pulley you just placed belt on as to thread belt onto idler pulley which has a metal fence mounted on pulley shaft to keep belt on this idler. Belt must then be threaded around on/off pulley and right spindle pulley and drive pulley.
Remove Blade , pull cover off top of transmission remove clip on top of pulley pulley slides up and off shaft remove belt from pulley and guide it thru hole to blade . make sure when installing to put clip on correctly if not pulley can come loose and ruin trans input shaft
Standing behind the mower looking down, the belt comes off the blade, out of the deck, to the left of the first pulley(back of belt is against the pulley), now right between the next pulley and around the pulley on the transmission. You may have to remove, or at least raise the second pulley to get the belt under the guard. Have a good one. Geo

Where is the transmission oil container located?
Changing a JD STX38 transmission drive belt.Today I undertook removing my almost failed transmission drive belt on a John Deere STX38. In order to do so (it had come off both the engine pulley and the transmission pulley but was not broken), I had to unbolt the brake pedal lock pin, and disconnect the front wheel steering bars (cotter pin and washer holding each bar to the front wheel axels). The belt then could be removed as the steering arms pass under the belt when it is in place, and the bars are attached by cotter pin and washer, one set at the wheels, and another set at the steering arms in the middle of the chassis. There is one idler pulley in a v shape and another idler pulley that is flattened between the transmission and the steering arms. The back of the belt pushes against the flattened pulley, and the inside (v side) of the belt passes the v shaped pulley as these 2 pulleys provide belt tension.
