You may find it easier to just change out the alternator. If not, remove the alternator from the truck. Mark the case half's, so they can be put back together correctly. Remove the four screws that hold the two together. Pull the back half off. The regulator is mounted to the inside rear of back half. Unscrew the mounting screws, remove the regulator, and install the new one. Reassemble the alternator making sure the mark line up that you put on the alternator. The brushes may be held in place with a small drill bit, or even a round tooth pick will work. Push the brushes into their holders, and use the drill bit to hold them in place. There is a small hole that goes through the holders, and out the back of the case. Once alternator is back together, remove the drill bit. Reinstall the alternator to the engine.
