You did not say if the motor is 4 or 6 cylinder, but they are similar. Also why not replace the water pump while you are digging. If it has significant mileage on it, now is a good time. I would strongly recommend buying a service manual to cover at least the basic things. I have a Haynes that is invaluable & much less expensive than the factory service manuals. I would start by soaking all the bolts/nuts that will need to be taken apart with a good penetrating oil for at least a week (I like PB Blaster). I would disconnect the battery before starting the work too. Basically it looks like the belts need to be loosened or probably taken of & the fan shroud needs to be removed to allow more access (make a diagram of the belt routing if it is not on a sticker under the hood). Then the fan & fan clutch needs to come off and the pulley is there. It might be easier to pull the water pump to get the pulley off also so also another reason to swap the pump. Rebuilt pumps are not expensive at all. Also check the condition of the hoses & belts since they need to be removed to get at this stuff. Unless the coolant was recently changed, this is a good time to change it & the thermostat. I am a firm believer in replacing parts BEFORE they might be prone to fail. I spend less time on the side of the road this way.
You have to remove the engine mount next to it, then remove the 4 bolts in the pulley

In order for you to change your water pump, mine is a 1991 cavalier and I had to take everything apart. I first started with the altanator, then you have to take off or loosen the power steering pump in order to take off the tensionor pulley that is a big alluminum plate with the tension pulley bolted to the head in order to access the bolts to the water pump. Its a pain, you just have to have patients, (TIP) in order to loosen the powersteering pump the bolts are inside the pulley, it has holes in the middle of it and you have to rotate the pulley to get to the bolts.
