Determine which side of the vehicle the washer reservoir is located by opening the hood and finding the fluid fill nozzle. Safely raise and support the front wheel on that side, and remove the wheel for access to the inner fender well.
Remove the lower splash guard below the bumper. Many times this is all that is required to gain access to the fluid reservoir. If access is not gained, continue by removing the inner fender liner. It will be attached to the fender as well as the frame of the car by a combination of plastic fasteners and screws. Use a 1/4-inch drive socket set to remove the screws and needle-nose pliers to remove the plastic fasteners.
Remove the 10mm bolt holding the reservoir in place, disconnect the fluid hose and the electrical connector, and remove the reservoir from the fender well.
Remove the pump motor by unsnapping and pulling with a twisting motion until it is free from the reservoir. Install a new seal, and install the new motor into the reservoir.
Bolt the reservoir back into place in the fender well and restore the electrical connector and fluid hose. Then reinstall the fender liner, splash shield and wheel to complete the procedure.
How do I remove a windshield washer pump from a toyota 4-runner 1988?
I can only make a guess, but look at the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir. Alot of manufacturers locate their pumps there.
look on the bottom of the washer fill tank.
The windshield washer pump is in the middle on the reservoir right under the hood. and you need no tools to change it.
It is mounted on the inner fenderwell on the driver's side under the anti-freeze and windshield washer containers.
Get a manual on your car to do the job right. In short, you have to pull the timing belt covers and timing belt. Get a manual.
The most common place to look for the washer pump is at the bottom of the washer fluid tank. Look to see where the small, black hoses go into the tank, at the bottom, you should find a small round black object there, it should be the pump....it should also have a wire or two coming off of it.
We have a 1988 Celica GTS and we just replaced our pipes...they were 2"....should be the same....
The warning lights on a 1988 Toyota Celica will usually mean that your engine is needing to be serviced. However, the warning lights can also mean that your brakes need to be serviced or repaired.
That depends on the make, but not likely with that many years in between.
