Unless I'm mistaken , if a timing belt goes on ANY car it WILL damage the engine. If you whack the clutch in and stop immediately you may limit the damage. Timing belt change intervals vary. I would never risk it... unless we're talking old banger. On a US market 960, you will have major damage if your timing belt breaks. The engine is what is called an interference engine.
