On automatics take a look at your trans pan and count the number of bolts and remember the basic outline of the pan. It is a good idea to take your VIN# with you also to get the right part. Pickup at least 8 quarts of ATF for your vehicle ; most now a days use Dextron III. Park on level surface then raise car and use jackstands. It is messy so get a large drain pan. Start loosening the trans bolts but leave a couple in so the pan won't drop. As you loosen the pan, fluid will drain( There is no drain plug on most trans pans). Loosen remaining screws then remove them. Clean out pan. Look at position of filter in trans and observe if there are any fasteners(some just push into place) Replace filter. Take clean pan and place vaseline on gasket and position gasket on pan and flip over so weight of pan compresses gasket. After a few minutes, install without any gasket sealer( if sealer gets into trans it can cause major problems) and TIGHTEN BOLTS EQUALLY AND THEN RECHECK THEM. Lower vehicle, begin filling with fluid. After about 4 quarts, start up in park and check and fill till trans is full and check for leaks. Done. Good luck.
no
