To replace the water pump on your 1989 Chevy Celebrity with V6 engine:
1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
2. Remove the belt guard above the water pump.
3. Loosen the screws that hold the pulley on the water pump.
4.Using a suitable tool release the belt tensioner and move the serpentine belt aside. If you take the belt off make note of its routing for re-installation.
5. Remove the screws and take the pulley off.
6. Remove the bolts and pull the water pump off. Clean the mounting surface of the water pump housing.
Reverse the instructions to install the new pump. Refill with coolant and check for leaks.
To replace the water pump on your 1989 Chevy Celebrity with 4 cylinder engine:
1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
2. Using a suitable tool release the belt tensioner and move the serpentine belt out of the way. Make note of its routing if you take the belt off.
3. Using the special tool remove the water pump pulley. The tool is available from Autozone on their rental tool program. The kit includes an installation tool.
4. Remove the bolts that hold the water pump on and remove the pump. Clean the mounting surface on the water pump housing.
5. Install the new pump with its new gasket.
6. Use the install tool to put the pulley on the replacement water pump.
7. Put the serpentine belt back in place.
Refill the coolant and check for leaks.
The thermostat on a 1989 Chevy Celebrity is located under the water outlet fitting. Follow the upper radiator hose, it will end at the water outlet.

Under the dashboard on the drivers side, in the fuse block. Just pull it and replace it.
There is no fuse on the alternator.
