Remove the window regulator and motor from the door as an assembly. Drill out rivets that hold motor to regulator and replace motor. Regulator needs to be riveted back into door for reassembly

First, remove the door panel. Depending on the location of your particular vehicle there will be bolts holding the window motor in place, or rivets that must be drilled out to remove the motor. Usually it's either the window regulator or window motor. You can buy both online for about half of what the dealer will charge for the part. It could also be the master switch on the driver's side, but if all the other windows are working fine, I'd replace the regulator and motor. I bought the regulator with motor combo for $81 delivered recently and my window is working perfectly now.
There are many reasons that this could happen. If the you don't hear the motor when you press the switch, the problem is electrical and you need to troubleshoot the fuse. wiring, switch. If the motor does run then the most likely cause is that the small plastic gears inside the window motor are worn and need replacing. This is fairly simple if you have some mechanical ability. Complete motors or the gear repair kits are available at most parts houses, and repair kits are very inexpensive on eBay. If the motor runs a little and stops then your likely cause is in the mechanical window regulator that actually moves the window. That is more work to replace than the motor but the parts are still very common and not overly expensive. This is still simple enough that it can be done by many backyard mechanics. You can find much more information on the some of the Explorer enthusiast websites. Many Explorer owners have already done this very successfully.
